Reversible and irreversible changes

This afternoon, Hawk class have had great fun investigating irreversible changes. We mixed milk and vinegar together to make a new solid and we mixed bicarbonate of soda and vinegar together to make a gas.

Can the children explain the chemical reaction? Perhaps they could comment below explaining what happened.

Anglo-Saxon Runes

Although some of us haven’t quite finished, these are some of our first, completed Anglo-Saxon rune stones. The children have worked really hard to write something that makes them unique (our value of the term) using the Saxon alphabet.

Investigating dissolving

Hawk class collaborated brilliantly this afternoon – every child in each group was given a ‘role’ (project manager, equipment officer, fair tester, record keeper or evaluator) and they had to work together to investigate the question:

How does the temperature of water affect sugar dissolving?

I wonder if they can answer the question and explain their findings to you at home…
